MEET MARIE
Marie Kazmer is an Associate at NIKA LAW LLP, where she practises exclusively in the areas of estate planning, estate administration, guardianship, and estate and capacity-related litigation. Prior to joining NIKA LAW LLP, Marie articled at a well-respected Toronto boutique estate litigation firm, where she developed focused experience in estate and fiduciary litigation, including dependent support claims, will challenges, and the administration of complex trusts and estates.
Marie holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Rotman Commerce at the University of Toronto and worked in finance for several years before completing her Juris Doctor at Western University. Her background in business and finance, combined with her litigation experience and focused estates practice, provides her with a practical and well-rounded perspective that is particularly valuable to her estate planning and administration clients.
Marie takes a pragmatic and client-centred approach to conflict resolution and works closely with clients to explore alternative dispute resolution mechanisms where appropriate. In her estate planning practice, she is thorough and forward-looking, ensuring that wills and powers of attorney are carefully tailored to address clients’ present circumstances and anticipated future needs.
Marie holds the Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Toronto Lawyers Association.
Outside of her practice, Marie enjoys travelling, skiing, volunteering in her community, and spending time with her family.
